| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central reverse field features a tablet or tabula ansata containing the mint mark SRW (Sirmium), enclosed within a rectangular frame. The surrounding legend, arranged in two lines above and below the tablet, reads CTOP AAVGGG and CONOB, representing barbarized forms of the Byzantine VICTORIA AVGGG and CONOB gold-standard reference. The overall layout closely imitates the reverse design of contemporary Byzantine siliquae, though with characteristic Gepid debasement of the lettering. The field is relatively flat with a smooth, hammered surface. The CONOB inscription in the exergue references Constantinople as the monetary standard, despite the coin being struck at Sirmium. |
