| Reverse description | Central field occupied by the distinctive royal monogram of Athalaric, the Ostrogothic king, rendered in an interlaced cruciform arrangement typical of late antique and early medieval regal monograms. The letters D and N flank the monogram on either side, serving as an abbreviated acclamation of the issuing ruler. The entire design is encircled by a beaded or dotted wreath border, a conventional decorative device of the period that frames the composition and distinguishes the reverse type within the Ostrogothic silver series. |
