Obverse description The obverse field is entirely occupied by a multi-line Arabic calligraphic legend in naskh script, arranged within a rectilinear cartouche framed by ruled lines. The central inscription comprises the Shi'a profession of faith (shahada) together with the names of the Twelve Imams, rendered in bold raised lettering against a recessed field. A decorative foliate or geometric border surrounds the central cartouche, with additional marginal inscription running along the outer rim of the flan. The overall design is aniconic, reflecting the Safavid dynasty's Twelver Shi'a confessional identity, with calligraphy serving as the sole decorative and doctrinal element.
