| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse bears the Shi'a kalima arranged in a spiraling or interlaced composition within the central field, a distinctive feature of early Safavid coinage introduced by Isma'il I to proclaim Twelver Shi'ism as the state religion. The declaration of faith includes the names of Allah, the Prophet Muhammad, and Imam Ali as the Friend of God, rendered in bold naskh or thuluth script. The inscription fills the flan in a tightly wound spiral arrangement, with individual words and phrases radiating from the centre. The flan is irregular and the strike shows characteristic flatness at the periphery consistent with hammered silver production. |
