Obverse description Central field features the heraldic achievement of Cardinal Francesco Galleffi, comprising a shield bearing his personal arms — divided with a star and a cockerel — surmounted by the papal umbraculum (ombrellino) with radiating rays and a dove above, flanked by the crossed keys of Saint Peter. The cardinal's hat with pendant tassels (fifteen per side, arranged in five rows) frames the composition on either side. The circumferential legend reads SEDE VACANTE MDCCCXXIX in Roman capitals, denoting the interregnum period of 1829.
