| 背面描述 | The reverse field is wholly epigraphic, displaying the imperial titles and name of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in bold Arabic Naskh calligraphy arranged in two principal horizontal registers. The upper register reads 'Sahib-Qiran-i-Thani' (Lord of the Auspicious Conjunction, the Second), a grandiose imperial epithet adopted by Shah Jahan, while the lower register bears the legend 'Shah Jahan Badshah Ghazi' (Shah Jahan, Emperor, Warrior of the Faith). As is typical of Mughal half-rupee hammered coinage from the Surat mint, the flan is irregular and some portions of the legend may extend beyond the coin's edge. The relief is bold and the calligraphic style reflects the refined yet vigorous epigraphic conventions of early Shah Jahan-period coinage. |
