| Obverse description | Central field dominated by bold Nastaliq calligraphy reading 'Badshah' (Emperor), struck in the characteristic Mughal-derived style adopted by Maratha mints issuing coins in the name of Shah Alam II. The inscription is enclosed within a rectangular cartouche defined by two horizontal lines, with additional legend fragments visible in the upper and lower segments. The overall strike is typical of hand-hammered Indian coinage of the late 18th century, with slightly uneven surfaces and a broad, slightly irregular flan. |
