| Obverse description | Broad hammered flan bearing bold raised calligraphic elements in the Mughal style, rendered in Persian-influenced script. The field displays the characteristic stylised inscription of the Muhammad Shah series, with prominent globular pellets arranged in a diagonal cluster to the right and a sweeping vertical stroke dominating the left portion of the flan. The design is characteristic of the crude but vigorous hammered coinage produced by the Kolhapur mint under Shambhuji II, imitating the imperial Mughal rupee type. |
