| Reverse description | The reverse displays the Persian Julus accession formula in multi-line Arabic script across the upper register, again divided by a prominent horizontal raised line. Below the line, the distinctive Ankus (elephant goad) with pennant mintmark is struck into the lower field, identifying the issuing Maratha mint authority. Additional pellet ornaments are scattered in the field. The die work is characteristic of the irregular, hand-hammered Maratha coinage of the early nineteenth century, with typical flan irregularity and partial legend weakness at the margins. |
