Obverse description Struck in the name of the Mughal Emperor Shah Muhammad Akbar II, the obverse bears a multi-line Arabic legend disposed across the field, divided by a horizontal raised line separating the upper and lower registers in the characteristic Mughal half-rupee format. The inscription records the imperial name and titles, with a partial AH regnal year rendered as 12XX, the final digits being indeterminate. The script is rendered in a bold, somewhat crude Nasta'liq hand typical of Maratha-struck Mughal-style coinage, with scattered pellets visible in the field as die embellishments.
Obverse script Arabic
Obverse lettering شاه محمد اكبر ثاني
