| Obverse description | Central device featuring the Shanku (sacred conch shell), a traditional symbol of the Travancore royal house, displayed upright within a decorative spray of leaves. The denomination legend in Malayalam script, reading 'Thiruvithamkoor Arra Roopa' (Travancore Half Rupee), is inscribed around the central device.
