Reverse description Central field bearing a Persian nasta'liq legend reading 'sanah julus 5 angrez shaheen zarb munbai' (meaning: struck at Mumbai in the auspicious regnal year 5 of the English rulers), arranged horizontally across the flan within a rectangular frame defined by two parallel ruled lines. The field is decorated with characteristic star-shaped and pellet ornaments scattered throughout, and a prominent crescent motif is visible in the upper register, following the Mughal coinage convention. The overall design closely imitates the layout of contemporary Mughal rupees, adapted to record the English rulers' authority.
