Obverse description Crowned effigy of King George VI facing left, wearing the Imperial State Crown rendered in fine detail with cross pattée and fleurs-de-lis. The truncation of the bare neck is cleanly cut, and the portrait is modelled in high relief after Percy Metcalfe's design. The circumferential legend reads GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR, separated by a dot mintmark at the base. The whole is enclosed within a beaded border running along the coin's inner rim.
