Additional information

Jodhpur's coinage during this period occupied a legally ambiguous position — the princely state retained the right to strike silver under its own authority, but British paramountcy increasingly pressured such states to align with imperial standards. The "Sumar Singh" attribution identifies the local thakur or mint master responsible for production, a naming convention that helps scholars distinguish die series within Jodhpur's otherwise loosely documented output.

Jodhpur maintained its own mint at the Mehrangarh complex well into the twentieth century, one of the last Rajput states to do so under active British supervision.
