Obverse description Armored bust of King Christian IV facing three-quarters to the left, wearing a closed imperial crown and elaborately decorated plate armor with a prominent gorget and pauldrons, holding a sceptre before him. The effigy dominates the central field in bold hammered relief, conveying regal authority in the tradition of late Renaissance portraiture. A continuous Latin legend surrounds the bust, separated from the outer beaded border by the inscription reading CHRISTIAN9 IIII D G DANI N V G REX, denoting the king's full royal titulature. The overall style is consistent with early seventeenth-century Danish goldsmith work, with fine detail in the drapery and armour chasing.
