Reverse description A large eight-petalled rose design dominates the field, each lobe containing a crowned oval shield bearing a rampant lion, alternating with smaller shields, all arranged around a central radiant sunburst of fine lines emanating from the centre. The petals are formed by a series of beaded inner circles enclosing the heraldic devices. The date 1579 is divided and incorporated into the outer legend, which runs between a beaded inner and outer border.
