Obverse description A crowned ruler stands full-length within a sailing ship, facing the viewer, brandishing a sword in the right hand and bearing a shield displaying the provincial arms of Overijssel in the left. A banner charged with the letter C appears at the ship's stern to the left, while a large rose decorates the vessel's hull. The legend encircling the design identifies this as a new gold coinage of the City of Kampen with value in Overijssel. The composition is characteristic of the late medieval ship-type noble, executed in the hammered style with bold, somewhat irregular relief.
