Obverse description Central field features the national emblem of Saudi Arabia: a date palm surmounting two crossed scimitars, all rendered in fine relief. A circular Arabic legend surrounds the central device, reading along the upper arc the royal title and name of King Fahd bin Abd al-Aziz Al Saud, and along the lower arc his designation as Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The legend is executed in a flowing Naskh script and fills the field to the reeded rim.
