| Reverse description | Central crowned shield of the Province of Holland bearing the rampant lion passant, with the date split on either side of the escutcheon — numerals '16' to the left and the final two digits of the year to the right. The shield is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The humanist motto legend in Latin capital letters runs continuously around the outer periphery, separated by a star stop. The design is characteristic of the hammered rijksdaalder series issued by the Dordrecht mint for the Province of Holland. |
