Opmerkingen

The Oman Currency Board was a transitional authority, established in 1972 to manage the currency changeover after Sultan Qaboos renamed the country from Muscat and Oman and replaced the Gulf Rupee-linked rial saidi with a new decimal currency. This 1973 issue was among the earliest notes circulated under that framework, predating the Central Bank of Oman which did not take over until 1974.

Bradbury Wilkinson printed the full P#1–11 series from their New Malden facility. The board's brief institutional lifespan means the range of issuing authorities on Omani notes from this period is narrow — collectors often conflate Currency Board and early Central Bank issues when dating by appearance alone.
