Reverse description Central heraldic shield divided per pale, displaying the arms of Amsterdam — a pale charged with three Saint Andrew's crosses — supported on either side by rampant lions acting as shield-bearers, each facing inward toward the escutcheon. The shield is surmounted by an arched royal crown. The field is unlettered, with no reverse legend, and the design is enclosed by a prominent toothed or beaded border consistent with hammered technique. The overall composition reflects the civic arms of Amsterdam as adopted by the short-lived pre-VOC trading company.
