| Reverse description | A raised five-pointed star dominates the center of an otherwise plain, flat field. A small dot is visible at the center of the star. The star is boldly rendered with clearly defined points, its surfaces showing the characteristic roughness of crudely struck provincial copper coinage. The surrounding field is entirely unadorned, with no legend, border decoration, or exergual inscription. |

| Additional information |
Issued under Spanish colonial authority during Texas's final years as a province of New Spain, the Jola coinage emerged as a desperate local remedy for chronic small-change shortages on the northern frontier. The province lacked a functioning mint entirely — these pieces were struck under emergency provincial authorization, not through any established colonial minting infrastructure.
The multiple PCGS population numbers reflect genuine variety distinctions among surviving examples, a complexity still not fully resolved in the specialist literature.
