| Obverse description | Central field bears the royal monogram 'IHNS' (Ioannes, for João I) surmounted by a crown, rendered in Gothic style characteristic of early 15th-century Portuguese hammered coinage. The mint mark 'L' for Lisboa appears below the monogram. A circular legend in Latin reads 'ADIVTORIVM NOSTRVM IHNS L', encircling the central device within a beaded or toothed border. The flan is irregular and slightly concave, as typical of hammered billon issues of the period. The overall strike is worn but the crowned monogram and mint letter remain identifiable. |
