Banco Solanas y Cía. was a private commercial bank operating in Argentina during the brief but chaotic provincial banking era before the Banco Nacional took hold. The denomination in Bolivian silver reales rather than Argentine pesos reflects the practical reality of the Andean borderlands, where Bolivian coinage remained the dominant hard currency in daily trade throughout much of northern Argentina well into the 1870s.
PS#1911 is among the scarcer entries in the South American private bank series — Solanas y Cía. left almost no documentary footprint, and surviving notes are rarely encountered in any condition.
