Opmerkingen

The Banco Argentino was a short-lived provincial institution operating out of Rosario, Santa Fe, during a period when Argentine monetary authority was still fractured among competing provincial and private banks. The denomination itself — half a real plata boliviana — reflects the genuine monetary chaos of the era: Bolivian silver coinage circulated alongside Argentine and foreign currency throughout the Río de la Plata region, and denominanting paper in those units was a practical acknowledgment of what people actually used.

The bank's operating window was narrow. PS#1520 is among the scarcest issues in the Argentine provincial private bank series, and surviving examples in any condition are rarely encountered at auction.
