The cross is rendered in strong relief, typical of the hand-struck macuquina technique, with the irregular cob flan causing the surrounding legend to be only partially visible. The partial peripheral legend reads ET INDIARVM REX, declaring Philip II king of the Indies. A beaded inner circle frames the cross where the flan allows. The overall strike is characteristic of the Potosí mint's early colonial production. |
