Additional information

Guatemala's 1893 coinage program included several pattern issues produced as the country evaluated monetary reforms tied to broader Central American currency standardization discussions of the period. The KM#Pn12 half real pattern is one of a small group of trial strikes documented from that year, almost certainly struck in limited numbers for official review rather than public circulation.

Pattern survivorship from this issuer is genuinely poor — Guatemalan government archives from the 1890s are fragmentarily preserved, leaving mintage figures and the exact fate of rejected dies largely unresolved.
