Obverse description Crowned facing royal effigy of King Martin I set within a cusped quatrefoil frame, the king depicted with a full beard and wearing a large Gothic crown, the bust rendered in the bold, somewhat crude style typical of late 14th-century Aragonese hammered coinage. The quatrefoil is formed by four rounded lobes enclosing the bust, with small ornamental devices at the cusps. A beaded inner border separates the central design from the surrounding circular Latin legend in Gothic lettering.
