Obverse description Cob-type macuquina issue struck on an irregularly shaped planchet. The field displays the crowned royal monogram of Luis I rendered in a bold, roughly executed style characteristic of colonial hammered coinage. Partial legends and assayer initial D are visible in the field, though heavily worn and partially off-flan as is typical of this cob denomination. The overall design is consistent with Spanish colonial macuquina production at the Mexico City Mint during the brief reign of Luis I.
