| Reverse description | Central field displays a stylized Gothic castle of three towers with battlements, representing the arms of Castile, set within a quadrilobe frame identical in style to the obverse. Below the castle, the mint mark 'B' for Burgos appears prominently within the lower lobe, flanked by small rosette or floral ornaments on either side. A beaded inner circle surrounds the central device, beyond which runs the circumferential Latin legend DEI GRACIA REX CASTELLE, proclaiming Juan II's title by the grace of God as King of Castile. The strike is characteristic of hammered production at the Burgos mint. |
