Obverse description Central device depicts a stylized monogram or crowned symbol rendered in crude hammered relief, characteristic of insurgent emergency coinage produced during the Mexican War of Independence. The design is set within a roughly circular field with an uneven flan typical of hand-struck provisional issues. The surrounding legend reads PROVICIONAL DE OAXACA, arranged along the coin's periphery in Latin characters. The overall workmanship reflects the rudimentary minting conditions under which the Oaxacan insurgent forces operated. The border shows a partial beaded or toothed rim of irregular execution.
