| Reverse description | The crowned arms of Spain at centre, displaying the quartered shield with castles and lions and a central oval escutcheon, flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules with scrolling banderoles. A royal crown surmounts the shield at the top of the field. The mint mark So appears to the left of the shield and the assayer initials FJ to the right. The circumferential legend HISPAN ET IND REX runs around the periphery, divided by the pillars, with decorative stops separating the elements. A milled border frames the entire composition. |
