Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Carlos IV facing right, occupying the central field, rendered in the neoclassical style characteristic of late colonial Spanish American coinage. The bust features a laurel wreath, tied queue hairstyle, and a ruffled collar. The circumferential legend reads FERDIN VII DEI GRATIA, invoking the name of Ferdinand VII as reigning monarch despite the portrait being that of his predecessor. The date 1813 appears in the lower exergual area, flanked by decorative stops. The entire design is enclosed within a finely milled border.
