| Obverse description | Central device consists of the quartered Royal Arms of Spain — combining the castles of Castile and the lions of León, with the Granada pomegranate in base — surmounted by a large royal crown with elaborate ornamentation. The shield occupies the majority of the field, with the legend disposed around the periphery between two pellet borders. Small rosette or floral ornaments serve as separators within the inscription. The overall design follows the standard colonial milled coinage style of the Bourbon reform period. |
