Below the central device, a partial rendition of the waves motif appears, consistent with the Guatemala Mint style. The legend VTRAQUE UNUM with the assayer initial G appears partially around the central device, characteristic of the hammered cob technique used at the Santiago de Guatemala Mint. The coin exhibits a pierced hole near the top of the flan, a common alteration seen on circulated cob coinage used as jewelry or amulets. |
