| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned Gothic monogram of Fernando and Isabel (the interlaced letters F and Y surmounted by a royal crown), struck in high relief characteristic of late 15th-century Castilian hammered coinage. The monogram is rendered in a bold, angular Gothic style. A circular Latin legend runs around the periphery, separated from the central device by a beaded inner border. The flan is irregular in shape, as typical of hand-struck medieval Hispanic coinage. |

| Reverse description | Central device features a quartered coat of arms of Castile and Leon set within a plain cross, with castles in the first and fourth quarters and lions rampant in the second and third quarters. The shield is surmounted by a royal crown. A circular Latin legend naming the joint monarchs runs around the periphery, separated from the central device by a beaded inner border. The overall strike is typical of the hammered technique employed at the Cuenca mint under the Catholic Monarchs. |
