Reverse description Central field displays a cruciform arrangement of the arms of Liege — a perron (the civic column of Liege) — set within a decorative framework, with a rosette or floral ornament at the centre point of the cross. Small foliate or trefoil ornaments appear between the arms of the cross. A crown is visible at the top of the design above the central motif. The surrounding Latin legend DVX BVLI EPIS LEO, reading 'Duke of Bouillon, Bishop of Liege', encircles the design in the outer field, consistent with Ferdinand of Bavaria's combined secular and ecclesiastical dignities.
