| Reverse description | Quartered shield of Castile and Leon at centre, displaying alternating castles (for Castile) and rampant lions (for Leon) within the four quarters, struck in the bold, angular style typical of Enrique IV hammered coinage. A plain cross divides the quarters, with the shield surrounded by a beaded inner circle. The peripheral legend in Gothic Latin letters names the king and his royal title. The mint mark 'S' for Segovia is visible in the field. The flan is irregular, as is standard for mid-15th-century Castilian hand-struck silver. |
