Obverse description Central device displays a crowned Gothic letter 'E' (for Enrique) within a beaded inner circle, surmounted by a large royal crown adorned with fleurs-de-lis and cross finials. Two vertical sword-like elements flank the crowned monogram in the field. The surrounding legend in Latin Gothic characters reads within a beaded border, typical of the hammered silver coinage of late medieval Castile.
