Obverse description Central field features the royal name IOHIS (João) in gothic uncial lettering displayed within a decorative cartouche or band, surmounted by a prominent crown rendered in relief. The crowned monogram is flanked by decorative elements in the field. The peripheral legend runs along the coin's border in uncial Latin script, partially legible due to the irregular flan and typical wear associated with hammered billon coinage of the period.
