| Obverse description | Armored and draped bust of King Charles IV facing right, his hair tied with a ribbon at the nape, occupying the central field. The portrait is rendered in the neoclassical style typical of late Spanish Colonial coinage. The circular legend reads ·CAROLUS·IIII·DEI·GRATIA·, invoking the king's divine right, with the date 1808 positioned in the lower exergual area beneath the bust. The entire design is enclosed by a toothed milled border. |

| Reverse description | The crowned Royal Arms of Spain displayed at centre, comprising a quartered shield bearing the castles of Castile and the lions of León, with a smaller oval escutcheon of the Bourbon dynasty at the fess point. Flanking the shield are the two crowned Pillars of Hercules, each entwined with a banner. The circular legend ·HISPAN·ET IND·R·PTS·P·I· runs around the periphery, identifying the realm and the Potosí Mint with its assayer initials. A toothed milled border frames the entire design. |
