Obverse description Armored and draped bust of King Charles IV facing right, his hair tied with a ribbon at the nape, occupying the central field. The portrait is rendered in the neoclassical style typical of late Spanish Colonial coinage. The circular legend reads ·CAROLUS·IIII·DEI·GRATIA·, invoking the king's divine right, with the date 1808 positioned in the lower exergual area beneath the bust. The entire design is enclosed by a toothed milled border.
