Reverse description Irregular cob flan displaying the quartered arms of Castile and León in a cross arrangement, characteristic of the macuquina coinage struck at the Potosí Mint under Charles III. The heraldic cross divides the field into four quadrants bearing the castles of Castile and the lions of León alternately, with the overall design heavily affected by the off-center hammered strike. Partial circumferential legend references the mint name and date in abbreviated Latin form. The sheared planchet edges and flat areas of weak relief are consistent with standard cob production at colonial South American mints of the period.
