| Obverse description | Armored and draped bust of Charles III facing right, struck under the reign of Charles IV using the older royal effigy, with the legend CAROLUS IIII DEI GRATIA running along the periphery. The date 1791 appears in the lower exergue beneath the bust. The portrait features the king in classical style with curled hair and a laurel-like treatment consistent with colonial Spanish coinage of the period. The design follows the bust type inherited from the Carlos III coinage tradition. |
