Reverse description The Spanish Royal Coat of Arms, quartered with the castles of Castile and lions of León, is displayed centrally within an ornate shield surmounted by the royal crown. The shield is flanked on either side by the crowned Pillars of Hercules, each bearing a ribbon or banner. The surrounding circular legend, separated by pellets, identifies the Spanish and Indies territories and includes the mint mark and assayer initials. A beaded inner border and reeded rim frame the entire reverse design.
