| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, a large Gothic letter 'F' surmounted by a royal crown occupies the central field, with the Zamora mint letters Ç and A flanking the crowned initial at left and right respectively. The design is executed in the bold, angular Gothic style typical of late 14th-century Iberian billon coinage. A circular legend in Latin runs around the periphery between the inner beaded circle and the outer beaded border. On some specimens the surrounding legend reads DOMINVS MICH AVITOR, while on others the obverse carries the royal name legend FERNANDVS : REXZAMORE : E. |

| Reverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, the Portuguese royal shield — displaying five escutcheons arranged in a cross pattern, each charged with five bezants — is set within a quadrilobe or lobate frame. A small mint mark letter 'C' appears below the shield. The circular peripheral legend in Gothic Latin letters, separated by decorative rosette or cross stops, runs between the inner beaded circle and the outer beaded border, identifying the issuer as King Fernando of Portugal. |
