Obverse description Facing crowned bust of King Alfonso V rendered in medieval Gothic style, occupying the central field. The king is depicted full-face with a large ornate crown surmounted by fleur-de-lis finials. The bust is flanked on either side by decorative foliate or scroll elements. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, separated from the inner field by a beaded inner border. The die work is characteristic of 15th-century Aragonese hammered coinage, with bold if somewhat crude relief.
