| Obverse description | Central vesica-shaped (almond form) shield bearing the Portuguese royal arms, surmounted by a crown at top. A Greek cross with four roundels occupies the quarters of the shield's interior. The mint letter E (Évora) appears at approximately 8 o'clock in the field, or flanking the shield as E-V depending on the variety. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the circumferential legend running between the inner and outer borders in uncial Latin characters. |
