| 正面描述 | The Guatemalan national arms occupy the central field, depicting a scroll inscribed with the independence date '15 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 1821' surmounted by a quetzal bird perched atop the scroll. Two crossed rifles and two crossed swords flank the scroll, while a wreath of laurel and olive branches frames the entire device. The mint year appears in the lower exergue. The coin's border is defined by a raised rim with a fine dentilated inner edge. |

Guatemala's shift to copper-nickel for small coinage in this period followed the collapse of the quetzal's silver backing during the chronic fiscal instability of the Reyna Barrios and early Estrada Cabrera governments. The 1/2 real in this alloy had a short run — production ceased after 1901 — making the two-year window the entirety of the type's existence.
