Obverse description The Guatemalan national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quetzal bird perched atop a scroll inscribed with the national motto 'LIBERTAD 15 DE SET DE 1821', flanked by crossed rifles and olive branches. The arms are framed by laurel and oak branches extending to either side. The fineness mark '0835', mint mark 'D', and date appear in the exergue below the shield. The design is rendered in fine relief with detailed hatching throughout the heraldic elements.
