| Obverse description | Central design features a large scrolled tablet bearing the inscription commemorating Guatemalan independence, reading '15 DE SETBRE DE 1821' in multiple lines within the cartouche. The circular legend 'REPca DE GUATEMALA' runs along the upper periphery, flanked by small decorative foliate ornaments at either side of the tablet. The mint year appears in the exergue below the tablet. The entire design is contained within a toothed or beaded border. Two distinct varieties exist: KM#147a.1, which includes the silver fineness '0.835' at the bottom of the reverse, and KM#147a.2, which omits the fineness indication. |

| Reverse description | The denomination '1/2 REAL' is displayed in two lines at the center of the field, enclosed within a wreath of laurel or olive branches tied at the base. On variety KM#147a.1, the silver fineness '0.835' appears in the lower portion of the field beneath the wreath, while on variety KM#147a.2 this fineness marking is absent. The design is framed by a reeded or toothed border running around the full circumference of the coin. |
