附加信息

The Republic of North Peru was a short-lived state created in 1836 when Bolivian president Andrés de Santa Cruz invaded and partitioned Peru as a precursor to his larger project, the Peru-Bolivian Confederation. This coinage was struck during that three-year window before Chilean and Peruvian opposition forces defeated Santa Cruz at the Battle of Yungay in January 1839, dissolving both the northern and southern Peruvian republics along with the Confederation itself.

The issuing authority ceased to exist within roughly three years of this coin's first production run.
